Election for two Park Board Commissioner positions are scheduled on June 9th. Candidates who wish to be included on the ballot have until 4:00pm on Monday, April 6th to turn in a petition to Darcie Huwe at City Hall. Candidates may gather 90 signatures or pay $50. Contact Darcie at 642-8448 for more information. Consider getting involved with Wahpeton park facilities and recreation programs.
We recommend that playground equipment not be used. The National Recreation and Park Association, given the current situation and the guidance from public health officials on social distancing, limiting in-person social interactions, avoiding spaces where people congregate in close quarters, and the concerns around transmission of the virus being spread through surfaces, encourages that playgrounds and play structures close in an effort to reduce community spread. Use at your own risk.
Outdoor space such as trails, tennis courts, fishing areas and Kidder Rec Area campground are open. No bathrooms or modern picnic shelters will be opened. Respect 6’ social distance from any people in the same park areas.
Due to the COVID-19 virus the Wahpeton Community Center and all shelters in the park are closed to the public effective immediately. As long as the schools remain closed, we will also remain closed to public use. We encourage you to enjoy our outdoor park and trails throughout the city while maintaining the correct social distancing.
